The Role:

A privately-held biopharmaceutical company that is focused on the development of next generation therapies that will target the foremost unmet needs in oncology is looking to hire a Controller.

Job  Description:

  • Management of the monthly/quarterly/annual accounting close process “as if” a public company
  • Direct and oversee accounting teams, including general ledger, AP, Fixed Assets and technical accounting with a focus on internal controls and standardizing of processes
  • Review monthly financial statements and trend analysis to ensure completeness and accuracy of results, ensure account balances are fully reconciled, and manage the preparation of the financial results in a timely manner
  • Prepare flux analysis for balance sheet and income statement and other various statistical analysis
  • Partner on the implementation of new accounting standards or accounting for non-standard transactions
  • Liaise and participate in workflow design with HR, Regulatory/Project Management, Clinical Development, Quality and other system administrators on processes, policies, systems and compliance
  • Provide leadership to strengthen the accounting team with a commitment to recruiting, training and mentoring of staff
  • Help implement internal control procedures (SOX) and identification of inefficiencies and implementation of process

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant required
  • 10+ years relevant experience in accounting, preferably in a position with Controller or Assistant Controller responsibilities
  • Big 4 Public accounting and public company experience required
  • Strong analytical skills, efficient, self-motivated with the ability to follow through and implement process improvement

Desired Skills:

  • Prior biotechnology experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation and informal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work across many departments with varying levels of staff and management to solve problems and achieve results
  • Proven track record of successfully motivating, developing and helping people reach their full potential
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of NetSuite, Adaptive, Paylocity a plus
