Tax Associate / Tax Senior Associate

$90,000 - $125,000 BASE

The Role:

Diversified alternative asset management firm looking for a Tax Associate that will touch a multitude of areas involving tax compliance, structuring and planning, and interface with other groups within the firm.

Job  Description:

  • Various security analyses to determine M1 adjustments and tax reclasses including wash sales, constructive sales, straddles, market discount, OID, Section 1256 and section 988 contracts
  • Tax allocations for 475 Funds and non 475 entities using aggregate allocations
  • Coordinate/organize flow through tax information from various underlying investments
  • Preparation of quarterly corporate tax payments
  • Review of schedule K1s, Forms 1065, Forms 1120, Forms 1042 and Forms 1099
  • Research tax issues relating to existing and new investments, including international tax issues and structuring
  • Periodically update and review tax memoranda to satisfy FIN 48 documentation requirements
  • Prepare tax documents as requested by PB’s for withholding issues
  • Closely monitor structure chart for FATCA compliance
  • Review of quarterly FIN48 analysis of trading funds for any potential exposure in foreign jurisdictions;
  • Preparation of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) reporting and 1099 reporting
  • Preparation of miscellaneous returns/extensions for UBT, Sales Tax and Commercial Rent

Required Skills:

  • 3-5 years public accounting/tax experience.
  • Strong academic record, including a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel
  • Fluency with new accounting and tax pronouncements
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to apply analytical and creative problem solving skills under tight deadlines
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
