Single Family Office with a location in Jericho, NY
Job Description: The Senior Accountant will work with the CFO and controller(s) in the preparation and review of tax workpapers, preparation of financial statements, administration and review of charitable grants and related schedules, and the administration of trusts and related calculations. The candidate must possess a strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and professionalism.
Specific Functions:
Review of tax basis general ledgers for individuals, trusts, and partnerships
Preparation of fair market value financial statements
Analyze transactions and determine accounting entries required
Reconcile stock positions and security trades to custody/brokerage statements and to the general ledger
Reconciliation of yearly tax forms to general ledger
Assist with tracking capital calls and related reporting
Maintain bookkeeping, accounting and tax records for various transactions/projects
Other accounting and administrative related projects as needed
Ability to assist with developing department workflow procedures
Qualifications:
Education: Degree in accounting
CPA License: Required
At least 7 years of accounting related experience. Experience at a public accounting firm is preferred and experience with tax return preparation is preferred.
Specific Knowledge and Skills Required:
General accounting knowledge required – proficient with debits and credits
Portfolio accounting (accounting for stocks and bonds) knowledge preferred
General knowledge of income taxes preferred
Strong work ethic
Detail oriented with strong organizational and problem solving skills
Exceptional analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines and goals
Ability to work well in a team environment that promotes communication and the sharing of information with colleagues
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
