Functional Title: Tax Compliance Manager
Reporting to: Tax Director
Location: New York

A private equity firm that has over 80 employees between London & New York offices, and currently manages over $10 billion in aggregate commitments.

Job description:
Reporting to the Tax Director, the Tax Compliance Manager will be responsible for assisting the Tax Director with the day-to-day operation of the funds’ tax obligations.
It will suit an experienced qualified individual looking to get in-house tax experience in the asset management / private equity industry.

The key responsibilities will be as follows:
• Coordinate and manage external service providers across multiple jurisdictions to facilitate the funds tax compliance and reporting obligations
• Review US taxable income calculations, tax allocations, investor K-1s and federal and state US tax returns
• Manage administration of W-8IMY look-through withholding including ongoing maintenance and review withholding allocations
• Work with internal teams to assist with data monitoring and requests to underlying funds to ensure accurate and timely tax information
• Assist with review of non-US tax compliance, including UK, Luxembourg and German tax returns and investor tax statements
• Manage Luxembourg VAT matters to ensure timely and accurate remittance and filings
• Coordinate and help facilitate annual US FATCA and CRS reporting across fund entities
• Assist with tax controversy, including Federal and State notice response and settlement assistance
• Provide support and assist with the formation of new entities
• Assist with preparation of the annual ASC 740-10 memo and review

The individual we are seeking should ideally have the following attributes:
• 5+ years’ experience in US tax compliance ideally with experience working for a Big 4 or large national firm
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Active CPA or Enrolled Agent
• Prior tax compliance experience serving Private Equity clients and proficiency in partnership allocations
• Experience of international tax concepts including foreign information reporting (Form 8804/8805, Form 8621, Form 926, Form 8865)
• Advanced excel skills
• High attention to detail
