  • 2-4 years of prior tax experience. Big 4 accounting firm experience is a plus
  • CPA licensed
  • Experience reviewing tax returns both Federal and State and Local
  • Knowledge of REIT testing is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Partnership and Corporate taxation
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective multi-tasker, well organized, diligent and detail oriented

Job Description

Working with members of the real estate tax team, this role will be responsible for the tax compliance, information reporting and basic tax research for the firm’s real estate strategy. Our real estate group is growing rapidly, and our tax team is used as a resource for our deal team, asset management, operations, accounting and more. You will get experience in varying aspects of real estate tax outside of just normal compliance and report directly to the Tax Director in most cases.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Heavily involved in the tax compliance process, including the review of partnership and corporate tax returns, Schedule K-1s, foreign filings and tax workpapers prepared by our external tax preparers.
  • Involved in preparing the Real Estate quarterly tax estimates and projections to incorporate updated financial information, sales, acquisitions, etc. for a subset of our funds each quarter.
  • Assist in the quarterly preparation of tax provisions for a subset of corporate entities within our structures. The individual will also assist in reviewing quarterly estimated payments for these entities prepared by our outside tax preparers.
  • Gain exposure to tax planning for prospective investors and basic tax research.
  • Involvement in tax structuring calls as we acquire new real estate properties.
  • Manage the real estate entity maintenance process surrounding acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings of all real estate entities (foreign & domestic). This includes constant communication with our lawyers, property financial reporting team, and foreign teams.
  • Prepare REIT income and asset tests for all REITs in our structures.
  • Assist in managing the annual FATCA and CRS compliance for our entities. Would work closely with our external global information reporting team to identify reportable accounts and preparing and reviewing the filing templates.
  • Work with existing processes/systems whilst making constructive suggestions for improvements.
