Hedge Fund Systems Engineer

NYC based hedge fund with $9baum and about 60 employees is looking for a systems engineer.

Responsibilities: The Systems Engineer will be responsible for architecture and delivery of key Microsoft and Linux Systems, applications, and IT infrastructure, including infrastructure planning, application support, analysis, design, setup, technical documentation, and reporting. This person will be part of the Modeling & Technology team, report to the Head of IT, and be based in New York.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer Windows servers and desktops systems running in a virtualized environment.
  • Administer Linux focusing on RedHat, SAMBA File Shares and Centrify for AD Integration.
  • Serve as an escalation point to resolve problems on Windows servers, Linux Servers, VMWare hosts and end user systems.
  • Support end users across the entire firm and ensure IT problems are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide PowerShell scripting to automate aspects of systems maintenance.
  • Provide root cause and failure analysis to resolve systems problems.
  • Design and document processes and procedures to automate common tasks.

 
Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience administering Windows and Linux Systems.
  • Expert knowledge of VMware and virtualization capabilities.
  • Good working knowledge of databases management, Kubernetes, networking, scripting and DevOps workflow.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively.
  • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP internet infrastructure, and IP informational tools and troubleshooting methods.
  • Azure Cloud deployment and Cloud platform experience strongly preferred.
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize and meet critical time deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Must be willing to work week nights and weekends as needed.
