We’re looking for an experienced tax professional to join the FanDuel Tax Department in our New York City office. The Tax Manager will assist the FanDuel Group Tax Department with all tax-related matters for the entire FanDuel US group and TSG US group. Responsibilities cover assisting with all manner of tax planning opportunities, managing key elements of the various tax compliance processes (e.g., income taxes, daily fantasy sports taxes, wagering and gaming taxes, informational tax reporting and withholding taxes, sales taxes, etc.), conducting tax research and writing position memos, building and refining complex tax workpapers and financial models, and assisting with the building, implementation, and maintaining automation (e.g., Alteryx, RPA, etc.). The Tax Manager will also assist the tax senior leadership team with managing the junior members of the Tax Team. This role will also require the Tax Manager to work closely with business functions throughout the company as well as regularly partnering with the international tax team at Flutter Entertainment.

This role represents an exciting opportunity to help shape the tax positions and processes across both US operating groups and the online gaming industry at large in a fast-paced and rapidly growing marketplace.

  • Own key elements of the income tax compliance processes
  • Own key elements of the tax provisioning process
  • Own key elements of the audit defense and tax controversy work streams across all tax types
  • Drive key elements of the continued expansion of automation throughout the Tax Function
  • Build/refine multifaceted tax workpapers, financial models, and tax automation under the direction of the FanDuel Group Tax Department
  • Liaise with international, federal, state, and local taxing authorities and regulatory bodies
  • Manage the wagering, gaming, and daily fantasy sports tax compliance and reporting processes
  • Manage the tax notice resolution process
  • Manage the informational reporting and withholding compliance processes (i.e., 1099, 1042, and W-2G reporting) with a focus on improving the customer experience
  • Manage a variety of ancillary tax processes (e.g., sales taxes, business property taxes, local business tax filings, vendor contract review, etc.)
  • Assist the FanDuel Group Tax Department with a wide variety of tax planning projects across all lines of business within both US operating groups
  • Conduct/review tax research and draft/review issue memos
  • Work closely with the other members of the FanDuel Tax Department to identify and implement potential process improvements across the entire Tax Function
  • Work with the other members of the FanDuel Tax Department and the FanDuel Risk Management Team to continue documenting all relevant tax processes and controls
  • Manage relationships with the other internal business functions, external strategic partners, and our tax and legal advisors
  • Work closely with the international Tax Team at Flutter Entertainment


What we’re looking for in our next teammate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another similar business field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional US corporate tax experience (preferably a combination of public account firm and private company experience)
  • CPA certification or J.D. is required
  • Relevant postgraduate degree is preferred but not required (MS in Taxation, LL.M. in Taxation, etc.)
  • Experience with tax provisioning and accounting for taxes is strongly preferred
  • Experience in the gaming and/or technology industries is strongly preferred
  • Experience with tax provisioning software (e.g., OneSource Tax Provision) and/or analytic tools (e.g., Alteryx) is a major plus
  • Experience with audit defense and tax controversy resolution is a major plus
  • Experience with statutory interpretation and legal analysis is a major plus
  • Experience in any other areas of tax is a plus
  • Experience in the sports or media industries is a plus
  • Experience with Oracle, Tableau, and/or RPA is a plus
  • Must have advanced Excel skills with a desire to continually maintain and improve those skills
  • Must have a strong desire to learn about new areas of tax, GAAP and IFRS financial reporting, and the gaming regulatory environment (via direction from the FanDuel Group Tax Department and continuing professional education courses)   
  • Must be data driven with the ability to bring strong analytical rigor to decision-making with a focus on getting the right answer
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and time/project management skills
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience and comfort with presenting to senior stakeholders is a plus
    • Experience with tax technical and/or legal writing is a plus

The applicable salary range for this position is $101,300 to $148,500 which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation.
